Since I already did the whole shebang before, I decided to just answer their questions this time around. So here we go!
- Coffee or tea?
Definitely tea. The few times I tried coffee I hated the taste so I never got into it. The only thing coffee flavored I like is espresso chocolate.
- N’sync or The Backstreet Boys?
When those two boy bands first were a thing I was into the Backstreet Boys because apparently back at *cough* 11 *cough* you had to pick a side and I thought Nick Carter was cute. As I grew older I decided that didn’t care and I liked them both.
- Do you have any Holy Grail products, and what are they?
Not really. There just are too many great products out there and too many new scientific advances all the time. There are a few product I really like (Puerology Hydrate Light Conditioner, Jouer Matte Moisture Tint, Too Faced Size Queen Mascara) but that list will probably be totally different a year or even a few month from now.
- Where is your favorite place to travel, and why?
Well, as a German living in the US I travel back home frequently to see family and friends but I don’t quite want to count those as “travels” because it’s not as relaxing as a vacation. I love Italy and Greece for the culture and rich history (I love everything related to the Classical Era), the food, the beaches, and the climate.
- What is your biggest guilty pleasure?
- What gave you the final push to start blogging?
There wasn’t really a specific occasion. I just started getting into beauty products more and I wanted to share my experiences and opinions with other people. I actually made my blog private in the beginning and just wrote for myself in order to figure out whether I would really like writing and would have the time to commit to a blog with several posts a week. I really enjoyed it so at some point I just took a deep breath and clicked the “make public” button.
- How did you choose the name of your blog?
I originally wanted to name it “All The Pretty Things” but that URL was already taken and I’m slightly OCD so I just couldn’t go with some derivative, like alltheprettythingsblog. So I just changed it up a bit until I found something that was still available. The thinking behind the title was that I wanted to write about things that I find pretty and that make me happy, not just beauty (although that has been the focus so far).
- What does your family or significant other think about your blogging?
I actually haven’t told many people about my blog. The very best boyfriend knows and is really supportive. He thinks it’s fascinating.
- What is your favorite food?
Chocolate! Oh, that’s not a food you say? Watch me eat a whole bar of chocolate for dinner. But in all seriousness, in terms of real food that would have to be sushi.
- What is your favorite book?
Too many good books to choose from…. If I had to narrow it down I would pick: the whole Harry Potter Series (read it at least 5 times), The Stand by Stephen King, The Firebrand by Marion Zimmer Bradley, and the Southern Vampire Mysteries Series by Charlaine Harris (which are the books that the HBO show True Blood is based on).
- Why did you start your blog?
Over the last year or so I really got into makeup and beauty products (I blame Birchbox for that). I found that I had opinions about these things but nobody to really share them with. The very best boyfriend can only feign interest for so long. So I thought “Why not start a blog?”
- What’s the one beauty thing you absolutely suck at or hate doing?
I suck at giving myself pedicures. I just can’t get my foot into a good position so it’s just much more relaxing to have someone else do it for me.
- What is the one thing you have to have in your purse/handbag at all times?
My wallet because I can’t do anything without it. Beauty related, I like to carry a hand cream with me because I never know when my hands will start to feel dry.
- If you read fashion magazines, what’s your favorite & why?
I don’t read fashion magazines except for when I’m at the hair dresser. I’m more of a gossip magazine kinda gal. I also have a Women’s Health subscription that I got with one of my Birchboxes a while back.
- What’s your favorite animal & why?
I always liked dolphins because they’re so smart. Besides that, everything cute and cuddly.
- What’s your favorite hobby or pastime?
I love to knit. It’s very relaxing and therapeutic. Aaaaaand, the best part is that you actually get a finished product at the end that you can wear or gift. Knitting socks is my favorite.
- If you had to read one book for the rest of your life what would it be & why?
Can I pick a series? Pleeease? Because then I would pick the Harry Potter series. I kinda grew up with it and those are the first books that I read in English. This series hold a special place in my heart. It’s so imaginative. It’s one of those series where all the puzzle pieces just fall into place and all the twists and turns end up making sense, which is amazing to me.
- Do you like YouTube beauty & fashion vloggers? If so who is your favorite & why?
I have a love-hate relationship with vlogs. I like that you can actually see a person’s reaction and don’t have to read between the lines but oftentimes I don’t have the time to sit and listen to someone talk. It’s much easier for me to fit in a bit of reading here and there.
- If you had to pick one person to be stuck with you on a desert island, who would you pick & why?
Probably the very best boyfriend. He loves me and we already live together and so far we haven’t driven each other crazy. So I’d have high hopes that we wouldn’t end up killing each other if we were to be stuck on a desert island.
- Since it is almost Halloween, what’s your spookiest experience?
I absolutely, 100% hate hate HATE to be scared. I try to avoid it all cost. No scary movies or haunted houses for this girl. I did go into a haunted house once, like a decade ago, so that would’ve to be my pick for spookiest experience.
- What is one moment on your blog you are really proud of? It could be starting your blog or it could be that one photo in that one post…just one moment that made you said, “Damn self…you did good.”
Hitting that “make public” button took some guts.
Thanks again, Kayleigh and Page, for nominating me. It was so much fun answering your questions.
