Out With The Old And In With The New – Sample Swap #4

Sample Swap #4

After the spoilers for the March Birchbox were released I was really hoping to be one of the lucky ladies that would receive a sample of the new theBalm Cosmetics – How ‘Bout Them Apples? Cheek & Lip Cream Palette. Alas, the Birchbox gods weren’t in my favor.

However, I don’t give up that easily. I was on a mission: to get this sample, no matter what the cost. My weapon of choice: the My Subscription Addiction sample swap website. After several swap requests I finally found a lovely lady that was willing to part with their sample in return for the Miracle Skin Transformer – Vanish Instant Imperfection Corrector.

What I traded

Miracle Skin Transformer – Vanish Instant Imperfection Corrector (0.1 oz, $5.80 value)

Vanish is a cross between a primer and a serum that “improves skin tone and texture over time while also immediately creating the illusion of brighter and smoother skin.” Although it’s been getting some good reviews I haven’t really found a use for it and it was only collecting dust so I decided to put it up for trade.

What I received

theBalm Cosmetics – How ‘Bout Them Apples? in Pie (sample size unknown)

This swap was a huge success for me. As a self-professed blush addict I’ve been lusting after the How ‘Bout Them Apples? palette since reading the first reviews about it. This little sample book is just about the cutest thing ever and a great way to try this product without shelling out $32 for the full palette.

This was my first time dabbling into the world of cream blushes and I’m obsessed. I like the amount of control I have when using a cream product and blending it with my fingers. It’s much easier to achieve a symmetric result. The color, Pie, albeit a bit scary in the pan gives a beautiful flush on the cheeks. I haven’t tried this product on my lips yet since it can be a bit drying. However, that wouldn’t be a deal-breaker for me since it works so well as a blush.

Having been able to give this product a try only solidified my obsession with this palette and it’s now on top of my wish list. I just need to rack up a few more Birchbox points to take the purchase plunge.

    1. thBalm is one of my favorite makeup companies. No one does whimsical packaging like theBalm – not even Benefit. And everything I’ve tried has been consistently high quality.
