NARS ‘Final Cut’ Collection – Love and New Attitude Blushes

One of my resolutions for 2014 for this blog was to do more swatches so I thought that the Final Cut blushes I had on my January wish list would be a good start. My camera isn’t necessarily the best which makes it a bit difficult to get pictures that are true to color so please bear with me while I figure this out :).

Final Cut is a new, limited edition NARS collection for Spring 2014 that is centered around the color pink. I’m a sucker for pink so of course I instantly fell in love with this release. I purchased two of the four blushes in the collection: New Attitude, a cherry blossom pink, and Love, a tea rose.

One thing that I love about this collection is that the colors are very fresh – perfect for Spring. New Attitude is probably the brightest of the four blushes in the collection. It has a matte finish with no shimmer or sparkle to it but the color itself just pops.

It’s well pigmented. You can apply just a flush of color by using a light hand or build it up for a very bright cheek. I think the most difficult part for me is to find the middle ground. I put on a couple of layers for a hint of color but at some point it suddenly goes from understated to over-the-top which also makes it harder to blend. I just can’t seem to be able to strike a good balance.

Aside from this minor issue the wear time is great. I can apply this blush in the morning and by the end of the day it barely shows any signs of fading. I hope that with a bit more practice I will find this blush easier to apply because I really love the color and I don’t have anything like it in my collection.

Next up is Love, a tea rose. To me it reads more like peach with warm, rosy undertones. I think it’s one of those blushes that will be flattering on a variety of skin tones.

The application is great, it blends really nicely, and the longevity is outstanding. This is the same high-quality that I’ve come to expect from NARS products and I think this particular blush would be excellent for anyone just starting their blush collection.

While Love is a great blush I was a bit disappointed when I unwrapped the little package – in the pan it looked strikingly similar to Deep Throat.

Deep Throat has quite a bit of shimmer to it while Love is a matte but the underlying color is quite similar. Love has maybe a tinge more pink and is more saturated. However, on me they look almost identical, especially after blending. If you already own Deep Throat I would recommend to skip Love.

Each blush is $29 for 0.16 oz. The Final Cut collection is available right now at Nordstrom.
