Christmas Manicure

Merry Christmas my dear readers! I hope you all have a wonderful few days and get to spend time with the people you love.

For us the big family get-together isn’t until Christmas Day but tonight we’re invited to a small gathering and I decided to do a holiday-themed manicure. I’m not very good at nail art, partly because I’m lacking the right tools, so this one is pretty simple. It’s two coats of OPI’s I’m Not Really A Waitress topped with several coats of OPI’s Pirouette My Whistle to add a good amount of sparkle.

I’m Not Really A Waitress is a metallic medium-to-dark red with some slight blue undertones. It’s one of my favorite reds of all time. It was pretty much opaque on the first coat but I decided to go with two coats just to make sure.

Please excuse the lack of cleanup. I took these pictures right after finishing the manicure.

Pirouette My Whistle is a clear base with silver micro and hex glitters. It reminds me of snow so I thought it would be very appropriate for the occasion.

It was a bit of a pain to get enough hex glitter onto the brush and onto my nails – one reason why I generally stay away from glitter nail polishes. Overall, I really like the result.
