This is part of a series about subscription boxes where I’ll introduce the box services I subscribe to, my general opinion of them, as well as some other ones that I find interesting and would consider subscribing.
Julep Maven is a monthly subscription box for nail polishes and beauty products. The price is $19.99/month. In contrast to other beauty subscription services you get to choose between five style profiles, each with their own unique box. Currently, Julep offers five style profiles: Modern Beauty, Boho Glam, Bombshell, Classic With a Twist, and It Girl. The type of contents of the boxes differs between the style profiles. The Modern Beauty box includes two beauty items. The Boho Glam, Bombshell, and Classic With a Twist boxes each contain two nail polishes and one beauty item and the It Girl box comes with three nail polishes.
Before you sign up you can take the style quiz to determine the style profile that best matches you. However, you’re in no way bound to the style profile that was selected for you. Each style profile has its own unique introductory box and you can just choose the one that you like best. The introductory boxes change ever so often so even if you don’t like any of the current ones you can wait for the new rotation.
After the introductory box you’ll receive the monthly box. Each month the Julep team curates a new collection of nail polish colors following a theme. While you’re automatically signed up to receive the box that matches your style profile you are free to choose a different box. You also have the options to skip the month or send your box to a friend. In addition, you can add other parts of the collection at a reduced price. For example, you can add nail polishes that aren’t part of your box for only $4.99 (a full size polish retails at $14). If you want to splurge you can upgrade to purchase the whole collection. Each month’s collection is released on the 20th and you have until the 24th to pick your box and your add-ons (or skip). Boxes are then shipped starting on the 27th to arrive by the beginning of the next month.
Julep has a pretty good reward program. You earn points, called Jules, for each box you’re billed for, as well as add-ons, upgrades, and referrals that can be redeemed for future boxes and add-ons.
I just subscribed to Julep Maven this past month so I haven’t had much experience with this subscription box. But by using the promo code FREEBOX I only had to pay shipping for my introductory box so I felt like I had nothing to loose. In addition, I really like the flexibility of being able to skip months.
Are you a Julep Maven? What do you think of this subscription service?
