I received this sample in my September Birchbox and I have been using it ever since. Now that I used it up I can give you my honest opinion of this BB cream. It claims to do the following:
“A moisturizer, sunscreen, and treatment serum all-in-one, this tinted BB cream even helps hide imperfections—so there’s no need for foundation or cover-up.”
This beauty balm only comes in one shade that is supposed to match light to medium skin tones. Surprisingly it does work pretty well for me, even though my skin is in the fair to light range. It applies very smoothly, blends nicely, and the color adjust well to my natural skin tone, as you can see from the pictures below. It’s not a perfect match as it makes my skin look just the slightest bit ashy but it’s pretty close.
The coverage is great. It makes my acne scares and blemishes much less noticeable without looking caky. In addition, it can be layered for even better coverage. It doesn’t ever fully cover up my skin’s imperfections but I wasn’t expecting that in a beauty balm. All in all, it looks very natural.
You also don’t need a lot of product. A small dollop like the one used below is sufficient to cover about one quarter of my face.
This beauty balm has a dewy finish that is supposed to give a glow from within look. I’m not a huge fan of that as it usually makes my skin look oily, not glowy. The same is true for this product. I found that the amount of shininess with this beauty balm depends on the condition of my skin. I have days where maybe I haven’t applied as much moisturizer and the finish is ok but other days it just looks oily.
The biggest problem I have with this product is that it stays sticky to the touch for a very long time which makes application of blush or bronzer very difficult. You have to use a light hand or it’s easy to apply too much blush and look like a clown. I usually use a powder after this product to reduce the shininess and help with the application of blush. That helps somewhat but my face still feels sticky for the rest of the day.
While I like the application and coverage of this beauty balm I wouldn’t purchase the full size of this product mainly for how sticky it makes my face feel. I do think that this would be a better product for women that like the glow from within look.
